MMDA lifts number coding traffic scheme on Election Day

MANILA, Philippines -- The number coding traffic scheme was suspended Monday, Election Day, Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani Fernando has announced.
This means that under the traffic scheme, vehicles whose plate numbers end in 1 and 2 are allowed to travel.
Number coding is being implemented to ease traffic in Metro Manila. Vehicles are banned from the road on certain days depending on the ending numbers of their license plates.
Under the plan, vehicles whose plate numbers end in 1 and 2 are not allowed on the road on Monday; 3 and 4 on Tuesday; 5 and 6 on Wednesday; 7 and 8 on Thursday; 9 and 10 on Friday.
